Kolkata Carnival 2023
"Art and Culture Fest brings handcrafted items and sustainability into urban homes with music,dance and food galore at the venue."
Kolkata, March 10,2023: Kolkata Carnival 2023- Art & Cultural Festival got off to a colourful start at the Triangular Park, Gariahat, Kolkata. The 7-day Carnival s(10th–16th March)is being organized by AIM (Art Illuminates Mankind) and Tabla INC.
The Festival brings local (Pan Indian) artistes on a common platform. The Festival would be open to public from 12 noon to 8 pm.
There will be cultural performances of folk and tribal artistes from various parts of India showcasing their performances such as Tribal Dance, Dhamsa, Baul, Ranpa along with classical dance and music. National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development and WBSCSTOBCDFC are participating with their beneficiaries.
“We have worked with artisans and hosted several fairs and festivals over the years.” said Ms Sonali Chakraborty, Secretary, AIM. “Our objective is to draw attention to our rich tradition and introduce it to the younger generation in the hope that they value their national heritage and develop new forms of inter-cultural dialogues,” she added.
“ We wish to bring back the glory of Kolkata showcasing Art & Culture, Handicrafts and Food in a single venue and proudly be a part of the great sustainability movement that is being held in a big away all over the nation” quoted Bonnya Bose, Creative Director, Tabla.Inc.
Kolkata Carnival 2023 cultural carnival would give people of this city an opportunity to see and hear some of the best folk and classical artists from India. They will also witness various forms of folk dance, art, music and handicrafts. Baul, Fakir and classical music will be an intrinsic part of the festival.
Along with these live performances there would be rural artisans working on their regional handicraft such as Bengal Patachitra, Pottery, Wood Work popular in the urban household today. Kantha Stitch , Bandhej, Glass, Mosaic, Bamboo Work items will be on display as well as one can watch them creating their products.

The Creative Arts academy is a one stop solution for your artistic ventures. This is a unique place pretty much in the heart of the city on the Sadananda road, near Rashbehari crossing very artistically done by the famous thespian Ramanjeet Kaur.Tanmoy Bose is a part of this organisation for designing the music department. Some of the best musicians from our next generation will be joining hands with him as the faculty members. Bodhisattwa Ghosh will be teaching Guitar, Gaurab Chatterjee will be teaching Drums, Piu Mukherjee will be teaching Indian Classical music, Swastika Mukherjee will be teaching Western vocals and Soumyadeep Das will be teaching Tabla.

Inclusive Classes
Tanmoy Bose has been teaching differently abled students for more than a decade. His methodology has helped these kids thrive in the world of music. He believes in the concept of inclusive classes, where every student is treated alike in the same environment. Recently, one of his students, Shakya, was the recipient of the “West Bengal State Award 2020 for Outstanding Creative Child : Musical Category (Tabla)”.
All-Female Drum Team
Kolkata Taiko is a first-of-its-kind project envisioned by Pt. Tanmoy Bose. His team of female drummers, ranging from a young kid to a professional movement therapist, have played in concerts far and wide and have enthralled the audiences with their magnificent beats. This initiative has garnered the attention of many notable personalities, including His Excellency the Consul General of Japan in Kolkata, who was so fascinated by the music that he personally invited them to perform in a concert organized by The Japanese Consulate.

‘Bauls’ & ‘Fakirs’
Baul music, the itinerant folk form of Bengal, has been put in the limelight by Pt. Tanmoy Bose. The vagabond musicians were far from the attention of the urban people until Mr. Bose showcased them through a series of his projects, including the ever-famous “Baul and Beyond”; where he amalgamated the rural sounds with the urban culture to create a sublime fusion.

‘Dhakis’ of Bengal
The music of the Dhaks found its way into the city’s soundscape through PT. Tanmoy Bose’s incredible fusion albums featuring the intricate rhythm of these festive drums. He introduced Gokul Chandra Das to the world who went on to becoming one of the finest Dhakis in the art’s history. Mr Bose’s initiatives encouraged many more to practice this art form, and had a huge impact on women, who now gained their status as good dhakis in the previously male dominated world of music.
“Concert for a cause”
To help the victims of Nepal Earthquake (2015), Pt Tanmoy Bose brought together the best musicians across the country in a concert to raise donations towards the cause. The concert featured musical greats including Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty, Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Kavita Krishnamurty, and other legends. It also featured the young musicians of Kolkata, who got a wonderful opportunity to showcase their talents on the big stage. This initiative played a major role in contributing to the victims of the earthquake. The success of the concert was truly massive, and it is one of the biggest relief fund concerts hosted in Kolkata to date
Workshop for human trafficking victims
Pt. Tanmoy Bose, along with Sanved Kolkata, an NGO, used Dance Movement Therapy as a healing experience for the victims of human trafficking. He conducted a workshop at Rabindra Sadan, guiding the Drum and Dance performance of school children mostly hailing from South 24-Parganas. This noble initiative gained the admiration of people all over the country.

Till the time that we as commoners do not stand up, we don't speak up; it is never going to be easy. TablaInc took a pledge to fight together to end human trafficking. It was a great honour for Tanmoy Bose and his students and the dancers of Kolkata Sanved to stand up for this cause.
